Frequently Asked Questions

  • This program is not designed for students seeking advanced math enrichment or acceleration. Instead, the focus is on helping girls build confidence, resilience, and independence in the way they approach math.

Many students who struggle with confidence are highly capable mathematically, but self-doubt can interfere with their willingness to take risks, persevere through challenges, or trust their own thinking. This program is designed for students with strong potential who would benefit from developing a more confident relationship with math.

  • This program was created with those students very much in mind.

A student’s emotional relationship with math can have an enormous impact on their ability to learn and grow confidently. One of the central goals of the program is helping students understand that confusion, struggle, and mistakes are a normal—and necessary—part of learning.

Rather than approaching math with fear or avoidance, students are encouraged to approach challenges with curiosity. Curiosity is often one of the best antidotes to anxiety, and the program is designed to help students gradually build a more confident and resilient mindset in a supportive environment.

  • Yes—students will likely be given short activities to work on at home during the week. These assignments are designed to help students practice the confidence-building and problem-solving strategies we discuss in the program.

The goal is not performance or evaluation, but rather giving students the opportunity to experience what it feels like to approach challenging work differently: more calmly, more independently, and with greater resilience.

  • Absolutely! In fact, that can be wonderful.

One of the hopes for the program is that students build supportive relationships with peers who share similar experiences around math confidence. Whether students arrive knowing someone or not, the goal is for every girl to feel supported, connected, and encouraged by the group by the end of the week.
